POKOTABI / Shirutomeshi
練馬食堂 汁とめし
At Nerima's teishoku spot Shirutomeshi, enjoy classic fried chicken, chicken nanban, ginger pork, or generous meat combinations alongside unlimited white rice, miso soup, and pickles, plus your choice of small side dishes.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Being able to go back for as many bowls of rice as you like while savoring large pieces of karaage fried chicken or savory-sweet glazed meat is the hallmark of Shirutomeshi. Diners purchase meal tickets at the vending machine before taking a seat. Ordering a set meal grants access to a self-service refill station stocked with white rice, miso soup, and pickles such as kimchi and pickled shallots. Each set also includes 1 small side dish of your choice, like natto fermented soybeans or chilled tofu, letting you customize the tray to your liking.
Main dishes feature items such as chicken nanban dressed with house-made smoked tartar sauce, as well as stamina-yaki made by stir-frying sliced pork belly with fragrant garlic soy sauce. Combination sets—such as the Niku-Kara Teishoku pairing fried chicken with ginger pork, or the Kara-Suta Teishoku coupling fried chicken with stamina-yaki—cater generously to bigger appetites. Diners also like to switch up flavors midway through the meal by combining the available kimchi with pork to create an impromptu buta-kimchi.
For a small extra charge, the standard soup in the set can be upgraded to an ingredient-packed miso soup or a vegetable-rich tonjiru pork soup, ideal when looking for a heartier vegetable serving. Beyond dining in, bento takeout and delivery options featuring fried chicken, ginger pork, or fish sets make the kitchen equally convenient for everyday everyday meals at home.
